Congress of Latin American Jade Carvers

Jade carvers of Latin America were gathered in our facilities in Antigua Guatemala for the first-ever Congress of Latin American Jade Carvers, which was held on the 12th, 13th & 14th of August, 2022. Great jade artists from Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico brought their masterpieces to compete and exhibit their impressive work.

One-of-a-kind pieces made with Guatemalan Jade were presented to visitors and attendees by carvers of region. The artists shared their creation process and the inspiration behind it. Also, special guests, such as Richard Hansen, participated and talked during the meetings that were organized by Mary Lou Ridinger and her team. Lectures and dialogues were held about the current events of the jade industry in Guatemala and the first edition of the congress is one the initiatives for promoting jade in this country. The first Congress was a complete success and we hope it is a harbinger for future editions.

A group of jade experts were selected to be part of the jury that qualified each piece of the participants. Three amazing carvers were selected as winners and received cash prizes and medals made from this precious stone. The jury was made up jade connoisseurs Robert Terzuola, Charlotte Ward, Andrew Shaw, George Schmerholtz and Deborah Wilson.
