Emergence

This sculpture is carved from blue and green jade, exploring the transition between worlds, states, and cycles of existence. The lower section presents a head or skull rendered with a matte finish, its subdued surface evoking silence, memory, and the passage of time. This foundational form represents the earth, ancestry, and the inevitable presence of death as part of the natural order.

Rising from the skull, a second figure emerges, carved with greater definition and vitality in the upper section. This figure takes the form of a Maya presence, symbolizing rebirth, spiritual awakening, and continuity beyond the physical.
