Olmec Evolution
Olmec Evolution is a powerful wearable work composed of a jadeite pectoral and articulated bracelet, carved directly from stone through an intuitive, free-form process. Influenced by Olmec linear carving traditions from Costa Rica and Veracruz, the piece reinterprets these ancient techniques with greater volume and depth, bringing ancestral language into a contemporary sculptural presence.
The set embodies strength and transformation through Olmec symbolism. The pectoral unites the jaguar, sign of life, power, and earthly force, with the bat, guardian of death and the underworld. Hidden forms emerge as light passes through the jade, revealing shifting faces that echo the duality of existence.
The bracelet functions as a symbolic portal to the Olmec underworld, combining jaguar and bat imagery in a dynamic, immersive composition. Together, these elements honor the Olmec reverence for caves and cenotes as sacred thresholds between worlds, expressing evolution as a continuous dialogue between life, death, and rebirth.
