Balam
A striking ceremonial jewelry set inspired by the ancient Maya vision of the sun god, who transformed into a jaguar to journey through the underworld during the night. In Maya cosmology, the jaguar embodies power, protection, and the ability to move between worlds, day and night, life and death.
Hand-carved over a period of more than two years, the piece reflects extraordinary dedication and mastery. The pendant presents a jaguar’s face in profile, carved in jade and crowned by subtle variations of color and form. On its reverse, a silver jaguar is inlaid, reinforcing the theme of duality and transformation. The accompanying earrings echo this symbolism through jade cylinders embraced by small sculpted silver jaguars.
