The Four Powers
This jade sculpture is inspired by the earliest civilizations that sought to understand the universe and the elements that compose it. The leaf represents earth, the drop symbolizes water, the whirlwind represents air, and the flame signifies fire.
The stone is carefully selected to match the natural characteristics of the form being carved, using the original drawing as a guide throughout the process. The piece reflects how ancient cultures explained natural processes and the structure of the universe through elemental forces. It references the Greek philosopher Empedocles, who believed that all existence was composed of four fundamental elements: earth, water, air, and fire.
