This sculpture represents Huehuetéotl, the ancient Mesoamerican god of fire, depicted as an elderly seated figure bearing the weight of a vessel from which the sacred fire is generated. His posture and presence evoke wisdom, age, and endurance, portraying fire not only as a creative force but also as a power that demands balance and responsibility.
The piece is set on a circular obsidian base, reinforcing its ritual character and sacred symbolism. The surface of the jade combines matte polishing, textured areas, and luminous highlights, creating depth and contrast.
