Maya Divinity
It depicts a powerful and meaningful scene from Maya mythology. It captures the essence of the three key characters from the Popol Vuh: Gucumatz, Hunahpú, and Ixbalanqué. In this piece, Gucumatz is shown majestically with Ixbalanqué resting on his head, transformed into the moon, while at the center, Hunahpú is portrayed as the sun. Together, the twin heroes represent the duality between day and night, the eternal cycle of light and darkness. Carved in green jade, the sculpture honors the deep connection between the gods and nature.
