The Abyssal Lady
The Abyssal Lady is a sculptural meditation on mystery, power, and feminine guardianship. Inspired by the dialogue between coral and jade, the work unites two profoundly symbolic materials: coral, born of the sea and shaped by time, and jade, a sacred stone revered throughout Mesoamerican cultures for its spiritual and eternal qualities.
The coral base evokes the hidden depths of the ocean, its ancient origins, organic beauty, and fragile existence. Rising from it is a serene yet commanding female face carved in jade, her features calm, her presence resolute. Her flowing hair transforms into serpentine forms, a subtle reference to Medusa reimagined not as a monster, but as a protector of hidden knowledge and thresholds.
