The Tuxtla Statuette

This is a copy in fine Jadeite of an Olmec style statuette. The original piece was found in 1909 in San Andrés, Tuxtla, Veracruz, Mexico, and it has the only long count date found in the Olmec area, except for the Stella C, at Tres Zapotes, also at Veracruz. The piece is currently housed in the Museo Nacional de Antropología e Historia, at Mexico City.
