Bird God Mask
This small mask is a copy in fine Jadeite of a piece found on the Atlantic coast of Costa Rica. It is definitely Olmec style but was found associated with ceramics of the Late Period, 1400 A.D., indicating that it was most likely reworked with the birth theme.
The original is housed in the Jade Museum of the Instituto Nacional de Seguros, in San José, Costa Rica.
