Olmec Maize God Mask

This is a replica in fine Jadeite of a face that may represent the Olmec Maize God or God II in the Joralemon system of deity classification. To the Olmec, this mask may have been a vivid portrayal of the living face of corn. It is currently housed at the Dumbarton Oaks Museum, in Washington D.C.
